Cuba TourMay 17 - May 19
This tour will cover 3 days and 2 nights. You will be picked up by an air conditioned bus with an english speaking tour guide at Marina Hemingway, traveling to southern Cuba, stopping at Bay of Pigs, then on to Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Playa Ancon back to Cienfuegos, to Havana for a day and then back to Marina Hemingway.
Three days of tours. The tours itinerary is set like this: Leave Marina Hemingway at 0800 hours on May 17, en route to Cienfuegos, stop at Bay of Pigs for about 2 hours. You may take this time to snorkel, (you will have to bring your own snorkel gear and towels), swim, walk or just enjoy the sunshine and take pictures. There is a bar and place to change clothes at the beach. Then on to Cienfuegos for lunch, which will include two beverages of your choice, water, soft drink, beer or wine. And then a tour of the city, "Cuba's Gallic Heart like a displaced piece of Paris on Cuba's untamed southern coastline. It was founded in 1819 by a pioneering French immigrant from Louisiana named Don Louis D'Clouet Sponsoring a scheme to increase the population of whites on the island, D'Clouet invited 40 families from New Orleans, Philadelphia and Bordeaux in France to establish a fledgling settlement known initially as Fernandina de Jagua. Despite having their initial camp destroyed by a hurricane in 1821, the unperturbed French settlers rebuilt their homes and - suspicious, perhaps, that their name had brought them back luck - rechristened the city Cienfuegos after the then governor of Cuba". After this we will then continue to the hotel to check in. Hotel Jagua in Cienfuegos, a Casino Hotel run by Batista’s brother before 1959. Breakfast will be included, it also has “ a nice cabaret, restaurant, cafeteria, lobby and pool bars. It is located within walking distance of many nice places in the city.” I expect it to be 1730 or 1800 when we arrive at our hotel. The rest of the night you are on your own, to enjoy hotel amenities, or walk downtown, also dinner is on your own. May 18th the bus will pick us up at 0830 and we will travel on to Trinidad. " TRINIDAD is one-of-a-kind, a perfectly preserved Spanish Colonial settlement where the clocks stopped ticking in 1850 and apart from the tourists - have yet to restart. Declared WORLD HERITAGE SITE by UNESCO in 1980". After this tour we will have lunch in Trinidad with two beverages included, your choice of water, soft drink, beer or wine. Then on to Playa Ancon, a beach where once again you may snorkel, swim, walk, or take pictures and enjoy the sunshine. This beach has a bar and place to change clothes. Once again don't forget any snorkeling gear or towels. After this we will move on back to the hotel, I expect that to be approximately 1700 or 1730. Once again you are on your own for dinner. May 19th the bus will pick us up at 0800 and we will have checked out and be heading back to Havana. We will be visiting several places in Havana, such as a Cigar Factory, where you can purchase cigars and rum, El Morro Fortress, which is guarding the entrance of Havana Harbor. It's construction began in 1589 and first saw action in 1762. It is just short of 500 years old. Hotel National, which has a small museum and pictures of many of the people who have stayed since the 1920's. Catedral de San Cristobal de la Habana, where the remains of Christopher Columbus were there for a period of time before they were transferred back to Spain. The market place and Fuster's Art work. Jose Fuster is a famous Artist in Cuba, most of his work is made of ceramic mosaic. We will have lunch between one of these stops in Havana, and again it will include two beverages of your choice, water, soft drink, beer or wine. After all this we will return to the Marina, it will be the end of three days of touring and I expect to be at the Marina about 1730. The cost for the above is $850.00 per person. |
