1.RALLY
From Key West to Cuba Race
May 15 – May 22, 2017
2.ELIGIBILITY
2.2 All boats shall be seaworthy and carry all safety equipment required by US Coast Guard.
2.3 The term “skipper” means the person, whether or the owner of the boat, who is designated on the entry form as “skipper”, who is in charge of the boat and will be responsible for its handling and safety, the conduct of its crew while ashore as a guest of any participating commercial facilities.
3.2 Additional crew tours must be purchased for $850. ea.
3.3 Other expenses that will occur are dockage, water and electricity, Cuban visa, any fees charged by customs, hotels and meals outside of the tour, daily medical insurance may be required by the government. The USD is exchanged for CUC in Cuba.. $1.00 = .87 There is a 13% exchange rate in Cuba, as of May 2016.
6.1 Dockage in Key West, everyone is on his own to find and pay for dockage. In Cuba everyone will be staying at Marina Hemingway. I will make reservations, but everyone is responsible for their own expenses, dockage, water, electricity, visas, and any other charges. Ice is not readily available. Do not plan to pick up a bag of ice.

May 17, 2017 – Leave Marina Hemingway by bus for 3 day tour
May 18, 2017 – Touring
May 19, 2017 – Last day of Tour

Preliminary Notice of Rally
1.RALLY
From Key West to Cuba Race
May 15 – May 22, 2017
- The Organizing Authority is Bone Island Regatta.
2.ELIGIBILITY
- Open to any single hulled boat at least 30’ in length, self-righting, enclosed cabin sailing or power vessel. With qualified crew for crossing Gulfstream.
2.2 All boats shall be seaworthy and carry all safety equipment required by US Coast Guard.
2.3 The term “skipper” means the person, whether or the owner of the boat, who is designated on the entry form as “skipper”, who is in charge of the boat and will be responsible for its handling and safety, the conduct of its crew while ashore as a guest of any participating commercial facilities.
- All boats shall carry a workable VHF radio capable of receiving and transmitting on channels 16 and 72, and receiving weather broadcasts.
- The Minimum crew, including skipper, shall be three (3) persons.
- Passports are required for participation.
- Entries will be limited to 40 people.
- Required registration and payment is due by April 1, 2017. Coast Guard papers, a valid email address and a copy of passport for all going is due by April 1, 2017.
- ENTRIES AND FEES
- Entry fee is $1,200.00 per boat which includes one tour for the skipper.

- SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
- The applicable Sailing Instructions will be available at the Skippers Meetings.
- REGISTRATION, CREW LIST, FLOAT PLAN, "SPOT", AND SKIPPERS MEEETING
- Participants in the Key West to Cuba Rally may register by sending in the registration form along with a payment due by April 1, 2017. Any additional crew tours that need to be purchased must be done by April 1, 2017, via USPS to BONE ISLAND REGATTA, P. O. Box 86, Tallevast, FL 34270.
- The Skippers Meeting for the Key West to Cuba Rally will be on May 14, 2017. Check in at 6:00p.m. Skippers meeting at 7:00 p.m. at Schooners Wharf in Key West.
- An accurate and complete crew list shall be provided by April 1, 2017.
- A completed “Float Plan” must be provided in writing to the Organizing Authority at or before the Skippers Meeting.
- All vessels are required to have a SPOT tracking device, for Coast Guard safety, And be activated on our URL which will be provided closer to the rally date.
- DOCKAGE

- START
- Key West - There will be one start on May 15, 2017, start time to be determined, see sailing instructions for further details. Power boats may choose to leave the next morning.
- COURSES
- The Key West Race shall begin in the vicinity of the Key West Bight Channel between markers number 24 and 25, and continuing out the Northwest Channel , then on a southerly Course towards Cuba.
- OTHER INFORMATION
- Competitors compete in the regatta at their own risk. The organizing authority, host clubs, sponsors, their associates and appointees will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during or after the rally.
- For people that choose to fly to Cuba, you may purchase tour tickets from Bone Island Regatta, but all other expenses, i.e. airline, hotels, food, visas, all expenses are your burden.
